In our hybrid work world, the office has emerged with an important role to play as a central hub connecting employees and company culture. As an essential conduit for staff wellbeing and workplace culture, a well-designed office can also cultivate a sense of belonging among employees.
Modern open office fit out
Since commercial spaces can deeply influence and enrich the work performed there, this thinking influenced imei’s new office design project in collaboration with leading architecture firm Woods Bagot. The aim was to build an office space that is delightful for its people to work in with a stylish aesthetic, contemporary furniture, and fresh styling. In this luxury office fitout, only the sweeping views across the northern beaches would remain unchanged.
At the forefront of imei’s plan was to professionally reshape its office into a space designed for experiences that bring people together. One that helps employees build connections to fuel creativity and teamwork and build strong support systems that empower them to tackle challenges.
Central hub for connecting employees
The result is a light and airy modern space, where in-person socialising as a rich source of innovation, connection, and more is tangible. The new design allows for a smooth traffic flow and minimises the need for employees to move around unnecessarily. But it is also arranged in a way that promotes collaboration, fosters quality connection time, and accommodates diverse needs. There are also single pod areas for use when a private workspace is required.
Reflecting the hybrid nature of work, around half of the workstations are designated for employees who choose to spend most of their time in the office. In this area, employees use the same desk area every day. For those choosing not to commute to the office every day, hot desks are available on a booking system. With less space tied to assigned desk, there now more generous spaces for collaboration, socialising, and high focus work.
Collaboration and quality connection time
In communal areas, contemporary styling and imei personalisation energises the space. The centrepiece is imei’s expansive and light-filled informal meeting room and kitchen area which is a drawcard for regular internal meetings and extended catered lunches, as well client meetings and workshops. When the space was formally opened recently, local Mexican catering company Mexicana was on hand to serve up a fiesta of Mexican snacks alongside substantial servings of fish, beef, chicken, and veggie tacos, which was a huge hit with everyone physically on site.
The opening of imei’s contemporary office environment means more team members can take advantage of connecting with co-workers in-person in a beautiful workspace to boost creativity for new ideas and inspiration.
