For many corporate executives with a passion for sailing, is there any better place to reside than in Sydney? How can you beat setting sail on the magnificent harbour with the stunning backdrop of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera House?

Of course, for corporate Australia, sailing offers so much more than a leisure activity. Requiring teamwork and strong communication skills, sailing also encourages problem-solving and decision-making skills which are critical in any business environment. On the water, unexpected challenges can and do happen, testing executives to think quickly and make informed decisions.

As a case in point, when the CEO of one of our customers was sailing on the Harbour last year, rough weather and choppier seas demanded all his sailing prowess. Expertly handling the yacht in these extreme conditions, our customer avoided getting into trouble despite much rolling and pitching, successfully keeping the yacht on course. Despite his deft skills, however, amid the high drama of the roiling waves, our sailor lost his mobile phone overboard. The phone plunging to the darkest depths of Sydney Harbour.

In what could have turned into quite a challenge after a triumphant experience on the water, the imei customer service team saved the day.

Thanks to our managed mobility services, we were able to offer enhanced response times and provide 24x7 support for his lost device through the framework of our Priority Service add-on for managed mobility. And because we support the full mobile device lifecycle, which includes lost devices, our hot-swap management service ensured he received a new device.

Assisted by a dedicated Service Delivery Manager, we coordinated support resources, getting hold of and delivering a brand-new mobile device, fully kitted out to the CEO’s existing corporate specifications and requirements. While in the background, we remotely wiped and decommissioned the original device, protecting personal data if its ever picked up off the sea floor.
