Twenty-five years as your partner for communication technology

Blog image_imei 25 Year Anniversary

You wouldn’t believe that when social media lit up with the now infamous “KissCam” video, it was 25 years ago, and that Coldplay released its debut album Parachutes. Twenty-five years! Incredible, isn’t it? The year 2000 seems like yesterday, right?

But life at the turn of the century was so much different. Take a tank of petrol. With the average price of unleaded fuel about 89.5 cents per litre, you could fill up the car for less than $50. And going to the movies was so affordable. Having a date night at the cinema in 2000, you and your partner could see the latest blockbuster Gladiator and enjoy a Choc Top, and you’d still get change out of $20!

While it’s easy to be nostalgic for those seemingly simpler (and more affordable) times, what you couldn’t do in 2000 is anything on a mobile phone, beyond voice calling and simple text messages. You certainly couldn’t light up the internet by recording and uploading the “KissCam” moment on your mobile phone.

Back then, when the Nokia 3310 was what everyone carried, imei set up shop as a mobile phone service and support company called “Techhead Interactive”, largely supporting this device.

In the intervening years, we’ve grown into a full-service whole-of-business communications services provider at the forefront of designing and managing unified communications and data networks, and are recognised as an Accredited Telstra Platinum+  Partner with Telstra's Australian Cyber Security Essential Eight certification.

What’s more, our long list of accreditations and certifications, strong partnerships with leading vendors, and a highly experienced and qualified team of technicians give serious clout to our credentials. imei’s knowledge, services, and expertise in the mobile technology ecosystem includes:

As we reflect on how far we've come since the days of Choc Tops and Gladiator, it’s clear that the pace of change in mobile and business communications has been nothing short of extraordinary. The journey has been shaped by innovation, adaptability, and a growing need to stay connected, securely and seamlessly.

At imei, we understand that every organisation’s communications landscape is unique. That’s why we’re here to help you make sense of it all, offering guidance and support to ensure your technology works for you, not the other way around.
