imei's review of another massive year

blog image 2023_2024 year in review

As 2024 draws to a close and on the back of us celebrating 24 years of leadership in enterprise mobility, it’s satisfying to see how far we’ve come this year.

Venturing West

One of the highlights of 2024 was our expansion into Western Australia. By setting up operations in Perth headed by Helen Wingate, we can better support Australia’s mining giants, including BHP and Rio Tinto, to keep communications technology operating to agreed standards, managing costs, and performing timely hardware and system updates. And being on the ground in Western Australia means we can also help clients in the West make the most of ultrafast connectivity in rural and regional areas.

GEMA conference

Further away from home, in our capacity as the Australian services delivery managers of GEMA, the managed mobility organisation providing services in over 100 countries, Tim and I attended the GEMA conference in Salzburg. As the Australasia member arm of GEMA, we’re committed to keeping in step with our international partners to ensure we can enable mobility and provide end user support to our customers with international mobile fleets - such as BHP - all from our Australia-based call centres.

Samsung Knox recommended managed services partner

Another big move for imei this year centred on Samsung Knox. Joining the ranks of Samsung Knox recommended managed services partners means we’re now part of a shortlist of managed service providers that meet Knox managed service requirements. It also recognises our proven track record for providing Knox managed services to mid-size businesses. On a practical level, this means our team of Android experts and accredited engineers can extend your internal team’s capabilities and provision of ongoing support for Knox solutions.

ISO 9001 certification - again, that's 15 consecutive years

A testament to our diligence in delivering exceptional quality and service, we retained our ISO 9001 certification, demonstrating our commitment to continuously improving our processes, investing in staff training, and upholding the highest standards of quality.

3G shutdown - no meltdown

Earlier this year, Telstra’s long planned 3G shutdown came to pass but not before an emergency extension, care of VoLTE emergency calling. When it was discovered that more than one million older 4G mobile phones lacked the VoLTE feature, putting them at risk of being blocked from making triple zero calls, our team sprang into action to help Australian companies that had been blindsided by the 4G phone anomaly.

imei Rapid Mobile Connectivity kit - set up a network anywhere, quickly

Another major focus over 2024 was helping customers secure reliable internet connectivity during unpredictable times through imei Rapid Mobile Connectivity kit. Since we launched our grab-and-go rapid mobile networking solution, this self-contained and transportable fast deployment network has been in high demand - but not just during extreme weather events or for first responders. imei Rapid Mobile Connectivity kit is also proving a shore thing with pop-up stores, festivals and events, polling places during elections, and in-vehicle connectivity - in fact, any site requiring immediate or short-term high-speed Internet.

Under Construction and Network Disasters

During the year, we also stepped outside the box in a marketing sense and had fun creating our first short film series. Our films Under Construction and Network Disasters generated a lot of buzz by poking a little good-natured humour at mobile phone and network incidents many of us have experienced. And in a fitting tribute to the medium, we had a Hollywood-style red carpet event to launch the series.

Skiff racing

Away from our day jobs, we continued our sponsorship of the 16ft and 13ft imei skiff racing teams enjoying quite a few competitive races, despite our less than perfect start to the racing year.

9.1/10 staff satisfaction

Back in the office, our staff satisfaction survey delivered results showing a very healthy 9.14/10. And while we’re delighted to rate in the very high satisfaction bracket, we aim to do more. In terms of tenure, there’s been multiple staff anniversaries, including one of our Engineers who’s achieved a highly commendable 20-year milestone, one of our Project Managers notching up 15 years, and our Sales Director and Head of Client Success celebrating 10 years with imei.

NPS +83 - the happiest customers in the industry

Also on the subject of ratings, imei’s commitment to improving customer experience is constant, evident in our consistent rating of NPS +83 Bain Certified Net Promoter Score®.

2025 - what will it bring?

As we look ahead to the coming year, we’re gearing up to support our customers in a number of large-scale projects both here and abroad, where we’ll continue to provide our brand of exemplary customer service and support, right here from Sydney.

Thank You

We know none of this would be possible without our ecosystem of partners, vendors, and clients, and take this opportunity to give thanks for continued support.
